Spay/Neuter Voucher Program

  • You must be a resident of Orange county or surrounding counties within 60 miles of Chapel Hill in North Carolina and be approved via an approval process.

  • Complete an application here. Once your application is received and approved, we will provide a link to pay $25 co-pay(s). If you need help with the co-pay, we can also assist with that. Once co-pay is recevied, will send you a spay/neuter voucher for each pet and the contact information of the veternarian. When you schedule a spay/neuter appointment with the veterinarian, let the vet know that you have a voucher from Cat Tales Rescue NC. The voucher covers the cost of the spay or neuter surgery, all needed vaccines, post-surgical pain medications and a microchip. We also cover the additional cost of pets who are in heat or pregnant.

    You must agree that your cat will receive rabies and FVRCP (distemper) vaccine. Proof of current vaccines required if you do not agree to Rabies and FVRCP If they are not microchipped, they will be microchipped. if you do not agree to vaccinate and microchip you cat, our partner vets will not spay or neuter the cat.

  • The voucher covers the cost of the spay or neuter surgery, all needed and required vaccines, post-surgical pain medications and a microchip. We also cover the additional cost of pets who are in heat or pregnant. Any other services, including treatment for fleas, will be at your expense.

  • No. The voucher is only good at participating veterinary clinics.

  • We will provide spay/neuter vouchers for up to 4 cats per household. All pets must be owned, family pets. If you have more than 4 cats that you need assistance with, we can also work with you.

  • Cats who are in-heat or pregnant can be spayed. When you schedule your appointment, please let the vet know that your cat is in-heat or pregnant. We will cover the additional cost of spaying an in-heat or pregnant cat.

A targeted spay and neuter voucher program that helps lower income* cat owners in Orange and surrounding North Carolina counties get their cats spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped for the minimal cost of a $25 co-pay per cat. YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF CHAPEL HILL TO BE ELIGIBLE.
